What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom-made devices worn in footwear used to treat and prevent foot, ankle and leg disorders.

They are also used to redistribute pressure under the foot to alleviate pain from corns, calluses and bone deformities.

They can be used as an alternative to surgery or after surgery to restore a natural gait, balance, and posture.

The Process

Chris will complete a thorough history and biomechanical/gait analysis to identify the cause of your condition.

Impression Method

An accurate and modern three-dimensional laser scan or plaster of paris cast will be taken.

Orthotic Prescription

Chris will complete a prescription form to give precise manufacturing instructions to the lab. The orthotics will be custom-made and specific to your condition, lifestyle and footwear.

The prescription form and images/casts are sent to a fully accredited Canadian orthotics manufacturer. Highly skilled technicians use advanced technology and hand craftsmanship to make your orthotics.

Within approximately two weeks, Chris will contact you for a fitting appointment. At the fitting appointment, the orthotics will be checked to your feet and footwear. Advice, follow-up requirements and relevant paperwork will be dispensed with your orthotics.
